Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a wafer thin shell of high quality porcelain or composite material that is accurately fabricated to fit over the front surface of your teeth. They can be used to improve the colour and shape of your existing teeth, in situations where a tooth is discoloured or chipped or where there are gaps between your teeth.

Veneers are normally recommended for cosmetic reasons but can also be used to reduce the wear on your existing teeth in appropriate cases. They can produce dramatic improvements in appearance with a minimal amount of preparation. Very little tooth is removed and your dentist can normally prepare a tooth for a veneer without the need to use anaesthetic.

DENTAL VENEERS

Lumineers are a special type of veneer that are made from a patented type of ceramic and need minimal preparation of your existing teeth they can be directly bonded to the front surface of your teeth and are significantly thinner than conventional veneers.

Dental veneers are the treatment of choice used in the much publicised “Hollywood smile makeover”. Here at our dental practice in London we use only the highest quality material and our veneers are hand crafted by our very own master ceramist.

There are two main types of dental veneers and our London dentist will advise you on the best solution for your problem: composite and porcelain. Porcelain veneers are more durable and give a better cosmetic result they are also more resistant to staining unlike composite veneers.

Composite veneers are more useful when

If good quality veneers are used and they are fitted well they should last for many years, at least 5 but often up to 10 years in many cases if you look after them. The life expectancy of any veneer is greatly influenced by factors such as your diet and how well you look after your teeth – veneers can chip or break just like the real teeth can. It is recommended that you come back to the practice for regular check ups at least once every 6 months.
