Orthodontics

What is Orthodontics ?

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention & correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws as this results in an improper bite.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding involves the appliance of a resin to a tooth then bonding, or hardening, the resin employing a special sort of light . Bonding may be a relatively easy and cheap cosmetic dental procedure and is employed to repair chipped or cracked teeth, change the form of teeth, or be utilized in place of amalgam fillings.

Veneer over Crown

Veneers are thin shells that are applied to hide the front surfaces of teeth. they’re custom made for the individual and bonded to the teeth to vary their appearance.

Veneers are often used  to change the dimensions, shape, color, or length of the teeth. As compared to crowns, they are not that drastic but the method is permanent and can’t be undone.

Ideal for a damaged Tooth

A crown may be a sort of cap placed over a damaged tooth. Crowns could also be used to improve a tooth’s strength or to vary its size or appearance. Crowns are often made from metal, porcelain bonded to metal, ceramic, or resin.  Before a crown is placed, the tooth to be covered is tapered by a file. The crown is then attached to the filed down tooth with dental cement. Crowns typically completely cover a tooth, but onlays and three-quarter crowns cover less of the first tooth.

Shape the uneven teeth or slightly crowded teeth

Through this procedure small irregularities like uneven teeth or slightly crowded teeth can be corrected. Enamel shaping is a quick fix, it’s fast and painless, and the results are immediate. Enamel shaping are often combined with other procedures including veneers, bonding, or tooth whitening.

Braces

Not just that it also improves the dental health condition of the person. Along with the fixing of gaps, dental braces also aid to correct open bites, deep bites, crossbites, crooked teeth, and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw.

Braces are of two types, cosmetic or structural. They are utilized in conjunction with other orthodontic appliances to help widen the palate or jaws.

Brackets – A  part of braces

Brackets are the part of braces that are attached to the teeth. These may be clear, multi-colored, or tooth-colored. In some cases the brackets are attached to the backs of the teeth so that they are not readily seen.

Invisible braces are made of plastic.

Gum recession

Gum recession can expose tooth roots. The exposed teeth may appear overly long and should be sensitive to hot and cold temperatures. Gum recession also increases the danger of cavities on the root, which can cause bone and tooth loss. Gum recession is often treated with grafts of healthy gum tissue moved from one a part of the mouth to a different. This also improves the looks of the gum line.

Make it a point to visit your dentist regularly in order that they can advise you when it’s time to possess new dentures fitted.

Bridges for fixed partial dentures

A fixed dental bridge may be a permanent structure that replaces one or more teeth. it’s constructed by placing crowns on the teeth alongside a niche and attaching artificial teeth to them (the “bridge”). it’s fixed in place with dental cement.
